I have two concerts next week and I want to do a tasty drum ending to last song we do (it's rock but not very heavy).
I need inspiration! I have tried YouTube searches for "great drum endings" :P and haven't come up with anything. I don't want anything so long that it ends up as a solo, just a bit around the kit that sounds impressive, yet easy to do leading to the band hitting a punch chord finish.
Anyone got suggestions, good tracks to listen to or know any YTube vids I could semi-steal ideas from?

Jellybelly - Smashing Pumpkins. - That one might be a little much though! Still cool to listen to.

Depending on the feel of the song: Ain't Talkin' 'bout Love - Van Halen - bounces along and sounds cool.

Or, when the song is nearing its end. Start with small fills crashing on 1, and just gradually build up to a nice long 4 beat fill around the kit to end on 1.

4 &a 1 - snare
4e&a 1 - snare or snare to tom
3 &a4 &a 1 snare, snare to tom or just toms
3e&a4e&a 1 snare to toms

etc.

I'm sure all of you know the song. So maybe you could switch up the beat in the last measure or so in a way that still follows the chord changes.

Ohhh... Here's a song with a few examples. "Bright Lights" by Matchbox Twenty... I wrote them off at first, but they're pretty good. The song does fade out, but you get a few good ideas before it does.

Good luck sir! Have fun!
I'm sorry... I'm not a very good evil monkey...

Thanks for the suggestions!

Rush=L tried Limelight, love it, ran out of toms though and didn't sound so good when I did it.

PodP yeah that Jelly one was way too manic for what I'm doing though I love the energy!!
And I tried your suggestion with the snare and toms which does fit in.

Mr.Saturn I completely forgot about the master of endings Bonham! Disn't quite fit with the style I'm playing.

I also tried just going for it but it sounded like the start of the evening when the band is setting up and the drummer bashes around the kit making sure it's set up right.

However I think this may fit if I can get it right in time:

Nice one Jimmy!

Funny what you say about Bohnam, cause the ending you linked sounds very Bonham tripletish to me...
