Research on snare drums

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,

I'm doing academic research for my MA Audio Production degree at University of Westminster, London, on the topic of "Snare Drum in Music Production", so  I was hoping to ask fellow drummers:

1. Can you name one or a few tracks of any genre out there that have a particularly interesting and memorable snare drum sound for you? (Like 'Levee Breaks' universally is, and 'St. Anger' isn't, pretty much)

2. Do you think the snare sound contributes to how you feel about the song, and in what way? Would the song be the same without that snare?

3. In general, how much do you think a snare drum can help define a character of a song, or a whole genre?

Any response greatly appreciated

Cheers,

Bogdan Milošević
